The Dior Oblique motif did not appear by accident. Marc Bohan, creative director of Dior from 1960 to 1989, introduced the repeating diagonal letters in 1967 as a way to give the house a recognizable textile signature — something that could identify a Dior piece at a glance without relying on a logo plaque. The motif has since become one of the most recognized patterns in fashion, woven into the house’s identity across generations.

On the 30 Montaigne East-West Bag, the Oblique jacquard takes on an elongated canvas. The 21 cm horizontal stretch gives the diagonal letters room to establish their rhythm, the navy-blue ground punctuated by slightly lighter woven letters that feels tonal from a distance and distinct up close. The antique gold-toned CD clasp breaks the blue field with a warm metallic point, anchoring the pattern at the center of the bag. The chain strap introduces additional hardware that echoes this contrast.

The East-West dimensions — 12 cm tall, 6 cm deep — keep the bag close to the body, whether worn crossbody or handheld by the chain. The removable strap includes a leather shoulder pad that can be positioned for comfort, a detail that matters when the bag is fully loaded. Inside, there is space for a wallet, phone, keys, and a few small extras, organized by the interior slip pocket. The flap closure secures the main compartment with a clean front line.
