Serpentine Tote

The ivory edition of Bvlgari’s Serpentine mini tote changes the emotional register entirely. Where the black version reads as a jewel-box object, the ivory opal Metropolitan calf leather introduces a lightness — a warm off-white that avoids clinical sterility thanks to the soft undertone of the leather itself. The bag stands 17.5 cm tall on a base of just 13 x 5.5 cm, a vertical rectangle that refuses to slouch, its structure reinforced by the same resistant-yet-supple leather treatment Bvlgari developed for its Metropolitan collection.

The serpent-shaped handles, sculpted from gold-plated brass, are the only ornament the bag needs. Each handle is a pair of snakes, their scales engraved link by link into the metalwork and their eyes punctuated with red enamel — the same jeweller’s technique Bvlgari uses on its Serpenti necklaces. A removable leather shoulder strap converts the bag from hand-carry to crossbody, and the open top means the black nappa leather interior is visible at all times, a dark frame around whatever sits inside. One patch pocket breaks the single-compartment layout.

This is a bag that works by subtraction: no flap, no clasp, no chain. Just the handles and the particular silence of white leather allowed to speak for itself.
