Saïgon

Navy blue occupies this useful space where it looks like black from a distance and then surprises you up close. On the Saïgon tote it’s applied across 34 x 16 x 25 cm of textured canvas, and the color shifts as you move through different light — nearly black in the lobby, distinctly blue by the window. The gusset system is what separates this tote from every open-top bag: panels of canvas on each side fold in to close the bag and let out to open it, transforming the capacity in seconds. A laptop, a packed lunch, a change of clothes — it all fits when the gussets are extended. Wooden bars keep the top edge rigid. Leather corners protect the base. The rivets at the handle attachments stop the canvas from tearing. Navy is the color for someone who wears a lot of black but wants the bag to reveal itself when they step into the light.
